The procedure described for 2D acquisitions remains valid in 3D. The electrodes are on the other hand usually arranged according to a square or a rectangle. The shape of the grid can thus vary according to that of the body to study. The interelectrode is also identical according to axes X and Y of the array. One uses primarily Pole-pole, Pole-Dipole and Dipole-Dipole configurations in 3D imaging. The other arrays have weak data coverage towards the edges of the grid.
